Rosado spent over 20 years at the helm of the Giorgio Armani brand as Fashion Director and as Mr. Armani’s virtual eyes and ears in the U.S. Prior to his time at Armani, Rosado was hand-picked by Andy Warhol to work as fashion editor at Interview Magazine, as well as assisting Warhol in his studio. When he wasn’t shooting with photographers such as Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, and David LaChapelle, he was steeping himself in the street-inspired art scene spearheaded by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. It was graduate school in glamour and grit.
Today, Rosado sits at the intersection of high-end and hip, with an insider’s view into the worlds of fashion, art, and music.

Works Tony Viramontes, visionary 80’s fashion illustrator, peppered the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman. Tony was a Mexican American L.A. born artist whose vibrant style was seen in works for YSL, Versace, Valentino, Montana, Vogue and Per Lui, just to name a few. Outside of fashion he illustrated the cover of Janet Jackson’s album Control. I have always admired his work but have never seen it in person so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw them at Bergdorf. His works are so difficult to find due to his passing at such a young age, he died at age 31.

Rhianna wearing my cameo ring at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Photo...

Rhianna wearing my cameo ring at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Photo courtesy of justjared.com

Gwenyth Paltrow performing in my hot pink feather and diamond...

Gwenyth Paltrow performing in my hot pink feather and diamond earrings. Cee Lo Green Performs Forget You With Gwyneth Paltrow Live @ Grammys 2001 HD (via Stretcharmstrongtune)

Sharing from Vogue.com

Sharing from Vogue.com: Check out the great write up on my jewelry from Candy Pratts Price on...

La Vie en Rosado - Fashion and Design News and Trends - WWD.com

La Vie en Rosado - Fashion and Design News and Trends - WWD.com: I finally get to announce the...

Zeitgeist Films :: Bill Cunningham New York :: the Trailer

Zeitgeist Films :: Bill Cunningham New York :: the Trailer: There is no one else in the world like...

I’m so loving this video by photographers Inez Lamsweerde...

The sculpture, titled L.O.V.E, has created quite a stir in the Italian media. Cattelan is known for his satirical sculptures and is Italy’s bad boy of contemporary art. I love that the sculpture we see here is basically a commentary on the economy, the business establishment, etc. Considering all the scandals that Italy has recently suffered (ahem, Mr.Berlusconi) the sculpture seems particularly apropos.

There is an energy about New York City that breeds creative souls. One such soul is Bronx native, Richard Alvarez, artist and man about town. Richard and I have been friends for ages and we’ve lived many a NYC adventure. He is an important figure in the vibrant NYC art and nightlife scene, a scene that continues to inspire artists and designers today.

I stopped by his Brooklyn studio the other day to look at his new pieces with the hopes of picking one up for my new apartment. I’ve always loved Richard’s works from the very beginning, I own 4 of his paintings and I cherish each one. The fact that he paints on glass using holographic glitter makes each piece so precious. Such extra care has to be taken with his work because any missteps can cause a shattering moment, literally!! His earlier works depict religious icons, Santeria saints and their African counterparts. His new works, seen here, are vibrant, sexy, and full of life. It’s difficult to capture the many dimensions of these works on camera. The way the light hits the pane of glass, the way the glitter paint shines, and details, like a disco ball lined frame, are lost on film. Be rest assured they are quite magical.

Keep your eye on Richard, he is definitely one to watch!

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of her work but one of the highlights of the evening was meeting some of her stylish fans. Imani Uzuri, who
I will follow up with her own post later, made a huge impression on me with ethnic influences that were all her own. I was attracted to her style but now I am a fan of her music as well. Another art lover whose style caught my eye was Dapo, a cloth maker. I met Kenny Scharf back in the 80’s through Andy Warhol and we have been friends ever since. I stopped by Kenny’s art opening this past Thursday at The Hole Gallery, www.theholenyc.com. Kenny’s works are larger than life and a technicolor dream. This particular show, Hot Glue Hullabaloo, was no exception. It was great to see old friends still looking and living fabulously and meeting the new generation of artists and art lovers.

Artists like Kenny, Keith Haring, and Jean Michel Basquiat set the stage for today’s street artists that are now so commonly found in galleries.
